History & Manyata
The temple at the source of Yamuna, daughter of Surya and sister of Yama, was rebuilt by Maharani Gularia of Jaipur in the 19th century after destruction by snowfall.

A dip in Yamunotri protects from untimely death — Yamuna pleaded with her brother Yama for this boon.
