Tirumala Tirupati Balaji
Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh· Lord Venkateswara

History & Manyata
The Tirumala temple on the seven hills (Saptagiri) has been worshipped continuously for over a thousand years. Patronised by the Pallavas, Cholas and Vijayanagara emperors, it is the world's most visited place of worship. The seven hills (Seshachalam) are venerated as the seven hoods of Adisesha. The murti is Swayambhu in the Tribhanga posture, bearing Shankha and Chakra; a thick coating of pachai karpooram (camphor) is applied weekly. TTD performs the Suprabhata Seva composed by Prativadi Bhayankaram Annan in 1430 CE every morning. The Hundi receives over ₹1,500 crore annually in offerings, and the kitchen produces around 3 lakh laddus daily — the recipe is protected under Geographical Indication tag #99 since 2009.
Belief / Manyata
Lord Venkateswara took a loan from Kubera for his marriage to Padmavati; devotees offer in the hundi to help repay it.
