History & Manyata

The 14th-century svarupa of Shrinathji was brought from Govardhan, Vraj to Mewar in 1672 CE to protect it from Aurangzeb. The chariot wheel sank into the earth at Sinhad — the Lord's chosen abode — and Nathdwara grew around the haveli.

Belief / Manyata

Shrinathji is Krishna lifting Govardhan; the principal deity of the Pushtimarg sampradaya founded by Shri Vallabhacharya. Eight darshan windows (Ashta Darshan) reveal the Lord's day from Mangala to Shayan.
